Welcome to the Laura Emily Theatre School website.
We run weekly classes in Rushmere St Andrew, Stowmarket, Lavenham and Hitlesham. Offering Ballet, jazz, singing, drama and Musical Theatre.
Students are given the oppotunity to take part in summer schools, workshops, Exams and Theatre performances.
The main aim of the school is to encourage young people to learn musicality, co-ordination, confidence and above all have fun.
Classes are taught according to age. All teachers at Laura Emily Theatre school are Trained, CRB checked and fully Insured, and have vast experience in working with children and performing themselves. Laura is also the certificate holder of SAFE (Safer activities for everyone)
Laura started her dance training at the age of 3, training in ballet, modern and jazz. She was a member of the Co-op Juniors for ten years, before joining Ipswich Operatic and Dramatic Society. At 10 she won a place on the Suffolk County Council Ballet Scholarship Scheme, which provided her with excellent ballet tuition until she was 16.
Laura won a coveted place at the Bird College of Performing Arts in Kent, where she trained for three years in all styles of dance, stage craft and musical theatre. She graduated with a National Diploma in Dance and Musical Theatre, having performed at the Royal Opera House and other West End theatres.
After graduating she danced on cruise ships, Disneyland Paris and theatre productions in Europe before pursuing her passion of teaching dance. She performed in New Delhi, India on New Years Eve 2006 and 2007 and she has also worked for Disney special events on various occasions including the High School Musical 2 bus tour 2007.
Laura has taught dance in a part time capacity for many years, and has now achieved her objective of teaching full time. Laura is also a YMCA level 2 qualified aerobics instructor. She has also taught after school dance classes and workshops at Kesgrave High school, Deben High school, St. Matthew’s, St. Helen’s, St johns, St Mary’s, Clifford Road, Rose Hill and St. Margaret’s primary schools and Old Buckenham Hall school, Bridge farm and Rendlesham Nursery, as well as teaching for Stagecoach, Felixstowe.
