Dear Parent/Guardian,
Once again thank you for your support this term. Please find below information, fees and dates for next term.
Please note there are some days when class times are a little different. Also show fees which to go towards costumes, lighting and theatre hire which will be due at the beginning of next term.
SHOW NEWS
For those of you that are not already aware, this years show will take place on the 19th June at Seckford Theatre, Woodbridge with performances at 2pm and 5.30pm. All pupils are expected to perform in both shows, unless already discussed with me, with the exception of the tots (9am and 3.30 pm classes) only.
Parents of these children have the choice of either doing the 2 pm show or both. Can you please let me know ASAP what you decide to do so that I can work with the children knowing who is doing what or both shows. Please note that it is the 5.30 pm show only that will be filmed for the DVD.
For those who have not been involved with a show before I have to abide by the theatres rules. One of these being, ‘that no parent that is not an official helper, either with a chaperone License or an Enhanced CRB check, will be allowed backstage at anytime.’
Therefore I am now making a list of people who would like to help with either of the shows. You will need to bring a copy of your CRB so I can see it and make a note of the number, or if anyone has, or is willing to apply for, a chaperone license please let me know. I know some parents have chaperone licenses for me last year, these are valid for 18months so will valid for this year too.
Tickets
Tickets for the show ‘Emotions’ are also now on sale. This year I was unable to use the box office, so tickets can be purchased from Marian on Saturdays or on the web site www.lauraemily.co.uk go to the dance shop link. Tickets are £8.50 Adults £6.50 Concessions. OAP’S or 16 years and under. Children under 3 are free if they are happy to sit on an adults lap.
SENIOR CLASS (1.30 -2.30)
All girls in this class will need silver ballroom shoes for the show. I know some of the girls already have them, for those of you that haven’t I have managed to get them at a wholesale price of £17.00. These will be worn throughout the show and in the following years shows so will get plenty of use. I need to get them on order ASAP so that the girls can practice in them. Please send payment with a note stating size and whether they would like the higher heel 2 inches or the lower heel 1.5 inches.
This year I would like this class to have their own tan fishnet tights. These can be ordered from me or purchased yourself. There are inexpensive fishnets at £3.00, but these tend to rip and do not last long or a more expensive pair for £19.50, I know it seems a lot for a pair of tights, but these last for years and can be used time and time again, I still have mine from when I was 18!!!!!! If anyone would like to order them from me please send money in a named envelope. I will be able to sort the sizing. Or you are welcome to purchase these yourself from the dance shop in town or online.
COSTUMES
As some of you are aware in previous years the pupils kept some of their show costumes, however I would like the costumes to be of a higher standard this year so I have decided to buy some lovely dresses from a costumier which are costing between £20-£35 each, the rest will be hired. Therefore pupils will not be able to keep any of their costumes this year as I will store these for future use. This doesn’t apply to the tot’s song and dance classes, they will be able to keep their dress.
There are some costumes which need to be proved by you, listed below. Any questions please ask Laura or Marian.
Tots song and dance class (9am and 3.30pm) – Will all need a pair of Pyjamas and a small teddy bear
Spotlight Class 9-10 years (10.45 – 12.00) – All need some ragged clothes. Old jeans or a dress, shirt etc, anything that you can make look old and worn out. This can be done easily by staining with tea bags and adding a patch or two. The children need to look like orphans.
Senior Centre Stage 13 + (1.15 – 2.30) – All need a Halloween type outfit for this ‘Timewarp’ number. E.g. Witch, scary, dark, wild – Or see me. (I have explained this to the girls involved, so they have a better idea of what is required).

ATTENDANCE AND UNIFORM
Next term is a very important term, we have a lot of work to get through, so please can attendance be as good as possible, to enable us to put on a great show. Also just a note on uniform as some classes are not looking very smart, If your child has uniform please try and encourage them to wear it, if not please can you ensure they come dressed appropriately, preferably in black leggings/jazz pants and black t shirt with suitable footwear, bare feet, trainers or jazz shoes. Ugg boots, crocs and slip on shoes are not suitable.

JUNE 5th (Tots class half term no class. All other children needed 9am till 11.30)
12th Please note on 12th June there will be changes to times in order to run the show. The afternoon class 6-8years will join the morning class at 9.45 till 10.45 on this date. And the afternoon tots class 3.30 will join the 9am class. All other classes which are 9-10, 11-12 and 13+ years are needed at 10.45 till 12.15.
18th Friday June all children taking part in the show, except the tots class 9am and 3.30pm. will be needed for a dress rehearsal at the theatre. More information to follow.
19th Show Day times to be confirmed,
26th – Class times as normal at Tower Hall, but photos in costumes first of all. So come with hair done!
JULY 3rd
Please note that on the 24TH April, the children will all be having a cover teacher, as I am not able to attend that day. Marian will be there if you have any questions. Please make sure your child still attends as this will be a perfect opportunity to perfect the routines. Note: The show fees help to pay for costumes, lighting technician etc.
